Where to begin? For starters how about a wider section from Sam Adams? They brew 30+ styles. As far as micros and regionals try Great Lakes (the best Christmas Ale EVER), any Point Beer from Stevens Point brewery, Penn Pilsner from Penn Brewery, Breckenridge & Great Divide brewerys from Colorado, Arcadia, Bells & New Holland from Michigan, Saranac from FX Matt in NY, Straub from PA, New Glarius from Wis, August Schell from Minnesota.... I could go on forever. What about imports? I've never found a good Kolsch in Tenn, but in Fla you can find Reisdorf, undoubtedly the best in the world. I'm not a beer snob, I just think I'm part of a huge contingent of people that don't care for what the distributors think we want to drink. That's why micros, regionals and brewpubs are leading the sales in the US and your old product offerings from August Busch, Frederick Miller and Adolph Coors have been left behind. Na zdrowie!

Thanks for your comment and for reading On Tap. Cherokee feels we are a big supporter of the microbrewery revolution, and we carry microbrews from Abita, Carolina Blonde, Rogue, Highland Brewing and Sierra Nevada to name a few.
We’ve just added products from Depot Street Brewing of Jonesborough, TN that we’re very excited about. We’re constantly looking to expand our offerings to best meet the tastes, demands and trends of the Tennessee market. Also, here at Cherokee, we only distribute products that are 6% ABV or less, but many times you will find beer products with higher ABV in local liquor stores.
Bearden Beer Market is a wise and varied beer merchant that has become well respected in the local community. They’re working hard to expand the tastes of local beer lovers and introduce new products to Knoxville. Their offerings are constantly being updated, and they are constantly growing.
There are many great offerings when you are traveling, and we would love to hear about your discoveries.
Cheers to you!

Catherine Bodie:
Any relation to Jerry and Ann?
Why is TN so far behind with its offerings of micros? I travel the SE and bring back all kinds not available here. RS Lipman brings several more to Chattanooga and Nashville than we get here. I know the majority of the ET taste buds are tuned to Lite, BL & Coors, but there's a micro revolution and we're missing out. Cherokee has a nice lineup, but there's so much more offered by just Harpoon and Sam Adams that isn't carried here. When I visit Bearden Beer Market I'm disappointed by their selection and they are the best in town. I shop regularly at Lexington, KY's Liquor World and its like shopping a Home Depot for beer, wine and liquor.

Glad to know wort has a valuable role in Nature through beer making. Thought it could have been a lichen or moss there for awhile. Also glad to know what IPA stands for.

I just discovered this blog via your Instapundit link.

There is some really good stuff here. Of course, with a topic like beer it's hard to go too wrong.
